A different approach to wine. An opportunity to have thoughtful conversations and find new connections in an open minded, engaging environment. This session will introduce several key ideas from different disciplines that you can use to think with wine and enrich your drinking life.
6.30pm - 8.30pm We’ll be trying five wines over the evening—including something aged and something fortified. There’ll be snacks!
8.30 - 9.30pm Laurence’s bar will be open for an hour after the session too for those who want to continue drinking and chatting.
We’ll drink wine and ask questions of it, and ourselves.
We’ll talk about fermentation and flavour and meaning.
We’ll explore feelings to do with natural and get into what is natural wine?
We’ll think about vines, place and monoculture.
You’ll meet wine in an embodied and narrative context.
You’ll leave with plenty of food for thought and an enlivened connection to wine.
This course is for the curious drinker, both seasoned or new to the table… as long as you have an interest in wine and natural wine.
Barley Blyton will be guiding your evening. Over the last twenty years she has thought about, drunk, made, written about and studied wine and brings an unusual array of perspectives from the practical, the literary and the anthropological to shape this evening session.
